Rejected petition: Make adult sex chatting sites have stricter age verification procedures.

Rejected on

Adult sex chatting sites currently only require the use of an honour-based, tick-box system to verify users' ages. The Government should make these sites use the same, more robust age verification systems that porn sites use.

Since the introduction of the Online Safety Act (2023), porn sites have had to use more robust methods to verify users' ages. Before, it was a simple tick-box system where users could easily lie. Adult sex chatting sites are not required to use the same age verification systems. They still rely on the honour-based, tick-box system. Due to this, children seeking sexual content are now being funneled to these sites, where they are in direct contact with adults and at an increased risk of abuse.
