Open petition: Review support for ARFID and fund national treatment pathways
Created by Lillie-Mai Bruckshaw
Closes on
ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) affects thousands across the UK, yet support remains inconsistent - creating a postcode lottery that must end. Around 1.25 million people have an eating disorder, 5% ARFID, yet many cannot access appropriate care.
This is urgent. Without proper support, ARFID can be - and has been - fatal. It does not end in childhood; it can continue into adulthood, where people are often overlooked and left without suitable pathways. We need action now: improved clinician training, more ARFID specialists, and dedicated pathways supporting both children and adults nationwide. No one’s health should depend on their postcode. We need more ARFID clinics and specialists in every city, not just a few.
