Open petition: Reform Hospitality Visa Rules to Protect Rural Tourism and Local Economies
Created by Stephen Dixon
Closes on
Reform hospitality visa rules to support rural and coastal businesses. Introduce regional salary thresholds, expand shortage occupations and simplify sponsor licences to reduce costs for SMEs. Without urgent action we are concerned staffing shortages will continue damaging tourism & local economies
Many hospitality businesses across rural and coastal Britain are facing severe staff shortages despite active recruitment and rising wages. We believe current visa sponsorship rules and salary thresholds are heavily weighted toward London economies and are unrealistic for regional operators. Without urgent reform, many businesses are reducing opening hours, limiting services and risking closure, damaging tourism, local employment and the wider economy.
