Rejected petition: Close the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office over espionage concerns

Rejected on

We want the Government to review the legal status of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London and revoke its privileges. We call for the office to be closed following recent espionage convictions linked to individuals associated with it.

Recent convictions under the National Security Act involving individuals linked to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London raise serious concerns about foreign interference and transnational repression in the UK. We believe an organisation connected to espionage activities should not retain diplomatic-style privileges. This undermines public trust and poses risks to national security and democratic freedoms in the United Kingdom.
