Open petition: Review NHS PTSD diagnosis and treatment pathways
Created by Bobby Norris
Closes on
The Government should conduct a review to look at introducing national PTSD diagnosis and treatment standards, including: assessment within 8 weeks, improved GP trauma awareness training, recognised PTSD referral pathways, faster access to appropriate specialist treatment and support.
Too many people experiencing trauma spend years misdiagnosed or untreated before reaching crisis point without support. Earlier recognition and intervention could improve recovery outcomes, reduce suicide risk and lower long-term NHS costs. PTSD can affect anyone, and delayed diagnosis can have severe consequences for individuals, families and communities. We believe national standards and earlier access to specialist care would improve outcomes and help prevent avoidable crises.
