Open petition: Keep the presumption of parental involvement & review fairness in family courts
Created by Peter Kelk
Closes on
We call on the Government to keep the presumption of parental involvement and review the fairness of family courts particularly when contact orders are breached or false accusations are made. Children need both safe parents.
We are concerned that repealing the parental involvement presumption risks weakening children’s right to relationships with both safe parents. We want processes to be reviewed to ensure fair evidence thresholds, accountability for proven false claims, and tougher sanctions for breaches. Family courts should not treat parents as suspects based solely on allegations. We believe unproven claims can trigger intrusive psychological and hair-strand tests, while contact orders may be breached without real sanctions.
