Rejected petition: Parliament must vote to end MPs' perks & allowances.
Rejected on
Parliament must vote to end this disparity between MPs' & their constituents. MP's receive substantial salaries & can claim non -means tested allowances & perks that their constituents could only dream of. Parliament must vote to end this disparity.
Fairness should be central, to our country's political system.
This is why MP's should vote to have their non means test perks and allowances ended by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) they are responsible for deciding on MPs' pay, perks & allowances. Although IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government. I see no reason why the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, cannot carry out the democratic vote of Parliament.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay, not the UK Government or Parliament.
IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
