Make Makaton Level 1 training compulsory for people working in care, education and extracurricular activities.

Many people with communication difficulties rely on Makaton to express needs, feelings and participate safely. Basic training would improve inclusion, safeguarding, accessibility and equal opportunities for children and adults across the country. Too often, staff in schools, care and extracurricular settings cannot understand basic signs.
