Rejected petition: give the Royal Regiment of Scotland the freedom of the city in Glasgow
Rejected on
Glasgow city council have voted that it’s not right to give The Royal regiment of Scotland the freedom of the city because “It was stated that bestowing the city’s “highest honour” upon an organisation was “inherently problematic”.
It’s not the Boy Scouts for goodness sake it’s the Army.
This should not be left for a few councillors to decide, it’s our armed forces not a terrorist group for goodness sake what is this country coming to I am ashamed to have anything to do with Glasgow after this total insult to the soldiers that would and have given their lives to protect us.
It was stated that bestowing the city’s “highest honour” upon an organisation was “inherently problematic”.
It’s not an organisation it’s the UK armed forces not some organisation of ill repute.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
