Open petition: Review regulation of animal boarding and licensing conditions

Created by Alyson Lane
Closes on

A review should consider introducing a new framework for paid pet care including minimum standards, more efficient checking of licences and enforcement of online platforms. There should be more alignment between devolved governments. These changes could be known as Molly's Law.

These changes could protect pets and owners by making it easier to check who is licensed/insured before booking, and lead to better enforcement relating to unregulated carers. They should also support responsible providers who invest in training, hygiene, safe premises, supervision and emergency planning. The UK Government should work with devolved nations to deliver consistent rules, clear penalties, and properly resourced enforcement so animal welfare isn’t a postcode lottery.
