Rejected petition: Allow removal of name from birth certificate for absent parents
Rejected on
Parents who repeatedly have children but fail to provide support, stability, financial help, or maintain contact should have their parental rights reviewed. This petition calls for changes to reduce automatic 50/50 rights where a parent takes no responsibility
Parents who repeatedly have children but fail to provide financial support, stability, care, or maintain regular involvement can still retain equal parental rights. This can leave one parent carrying all responsibility while children experience inconsistency and lack of support. We want the Government to review laws so parental rights can be reconsidered where a parent repeatedly avoids their responsibilities and plays no active role in their child’s life.
