Rejected petition: Yellow LED street lamps
Rejected on
I would like the government to allow/make councils have yellow LED street lamps (especially in rural areas) that emulate the old sodium Vapor lamps to help protect bats.
I would like the government to allow/make councils have yellow LED street lamps (especially in rural areas) that emulate the old sodium Vapor lamps. Not only are these colours far less blinding and harsh but they are also a lot better for wildlife (especially bats) in rural areas.
Bats get disoriented by bright light and this harms their sense of direction. Although this is less of an issue in cities. In rural areas it can be very harmful and the soft yellow is less blinding to drivers.
Why was this petition rejected?

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
