Open petition: Fund research into Post-Sepsis Syndrome to recognise its long term impact

Created by Sammi Hassan
Closes on

We want the Government to fund research to help Post-Sepsis Syndrome (PSS) be formally recognised as a long-term condition and ensure patients can access appropriate assessment, rehabilitation, mental health support and disability-related assistance after sepsis.

Many people who survive sepsis experience long-term physical, cognitive and psychological effects known as Post-Sepsis Syndrome. Symptoms can include chronic fatigue, pain, mobility problems, memory and concentration difficulties, anxiety, depression and PTSD. Despite this, awareness and support remain inconsistent across the NHS. Many survivors struggle to access rehabilitation, benefits support, workplace adjustments and appropriate follow-up care.
