Rejected petition: End Gambling Ads: Protect People, Not Profits

Rejected on

Gambling ads are everywhere, normalising harm and addiction. The UK already has 30,000 child problem gamblers and 55,000 at risk. Gambling harm costs £1.27bn a year and is linked to debt, suicides, and more. Companies use unethical tactics to exploit vulnerable people. A full ad ban is needed.

Gambling ads push an addiction that destroys people. Behind every advert is someone losing savings, home, relationships, even their life, as shame and debt feel impossible to escape. Promoting something that can kill people is unethical. Gambling addiction is no different from drugs or alcohol, yet it’s sold everywhere as harmless fun. These companies rely on vulnerability and profit from suffering. Advertising an addiction isn’t freedom; it’s exploitation, and ending it is essential.
