Rejected petition: Guarantee free swimming lessons for every child until they can swim safely

Rejected on

I want the Government to guarantee fully funded swimming lessons for every child until they can safely swim and meet national water safety standards, regardless of family income or postcode. For any child under the age of 16.

Swimming is a life-saving skill, not a luxury. While swimming is part of the school curriculum, many children still leave primary school unable to swim confidently or safely. Access to lessons varies depending on schools, local funding and family finances. Many parents cannot afford private lessons, creating inequality and leaving children at risk around water. Every child deserves the chance to learn to swim and understand water safety.
