Rejected petition: End unnecessary delays in releasing the deceased in Birmingham coroner services

Rejected on

We call for faster release of deceased in Birmingham coroner services. Delays cause deep distress, especially for families needing prompt religious burial. We urge use of CT/MRI scanning to reduce delays and ensure dignity, compassion and timely funerals.

We call on Birmingham City Council and coroner services to reduce unnecessary delays in releasing deceased individuals. These delays cause severe distress and can conflict with religious burial requirements. We request a review of procedures, improved communication with bereaved families, and greater use of CT/MRI post-mortem scanning to reduce invasive delays. Families deserve dignity, transparency, and timely release of loved ones during bereavement.
