Open petition: Protected Community and Public Service Flags category in flag-flying regulations

Created by Robson Smith
Closes on

We want the UK Government to create a Protected Community and Public Service Flags category in planning regulations, allowing recognised NHS, Armed Forces, veterans, emergency services, Pride and disability flags to be flown without planning consent for clear, consistent rules.

Recent uncertainty around the display of Pride flags has highlighted inconsistencies in current guidance. Some recognised flags can be flown without consent, while others may require permission, creating confusion for councils, schools, NHS bodies and community groups. This petition calls for a new Protected Community and Public Service Flags category to provide clear, consistent rules for recognised NHS, Armed Forces, veterans, emergency services, Pride and disability flags.
