Rejected petition: Stop the removal of historical figures from our banknotes

Instruct the Bank of England to withdraw plans to replace the historical British figures on UK banknotes (namely the portraits of Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, JMW Turner and Alan Turing) with wild life pictures, which can be featured on commemorative stamps
Portraits of icons of British history and culture are to be replaced by wildlife pictures on banknotes, ostensibly for security puposes (so that coloured pictures can be used). There is nothing to prevent the updating of the existing portraits to include colour in the portraits or in surrounding frames. The true reason for their removal is the relentless onslaught on the history and culture of the United Kingdom.
