Rejected petition: Ban the use of all weedkillers that aren’t pet friendly. #JusticeForJett

Rejected on

We call on the Scottish Parliament to ban all weedkillers unsafe for pets/wildlife. Councils must use only pet‑friendly methods. Clear 48 hour advance warnings and a legal duty to remove dead/injured animals will prevent suffering like ours: two family cats killed by council poisons. #JusticeForJett

This petition is in loving memory of our beautiful cat Jett, and a 2nd much‑loved family cat, killed by poisoning from toxic weedkiller applied by SLC, near our home on 4/6/26.
What makes this worse and why these new laws are needed, is the conduct of workers. Staff saw Jett lying there, instead of seeking help, or moving his body respectfully, they cut the grass and left a patch of grass uncut around him, proving they knew he was there and chose to ignore him, leaving him for my child to find.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

As this concerns the Scottish Parliament, you will need to use the Scottish petitions system:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
