Open petition: Strengthen right to repair legislation by including motor vehicles
Created by Callum Willans
Closes on
We want the Government to prevent car manufacturers from creating or removing features to hinder the ability to maintain a vehicle, as well as to ensure that they continue to produce parts for their most popular models dependant on how many are left on the road.
This petition asks for legislation to prevent car brands from adding or removing features to hinder the ability to maintain a vehicle such as some current examples like the removal of sump plugs on some cars, and screws only the dealership can undo on others. This should include the having to access the car's software for repair purposes. In addition the petition asks that cars regardless of age, as long as there is (example number) 100 cars left on UK roads, the manufacturer must continue to make parts for it.
