Rejected petition: Vehicle make and model to be irrelevant when insuring a vehicle
Rejected on
When insuring a vehicle (car, motorcycle), the brand and model of these vehicles should be irrelevant when making an insurance quote because all that will happen is careless drivers/riders will pick a different brand to cause accidents on, then spike the insurance for others on those brands.
Vehicle insurance should only include the following to influence the price: age, years of experience, mileage and No Claims Bonus. When it comes to popular vehicle brands, people choose these models because they’re reliable e.g. Honda, Suzuki, BMW etc. increasing the prices on reliable, popular makes often force people to purchase cheaper, less reliable vehicles that often break down faster costing more long term. Everyone should be financially unrestricted when purchasing a robust vehicle
