Rejected petition: Do NOT ban Social Media for Under 16s

Rejected on

I think the government shouldn’t ban social media for under 16s. This is because for many young people social media is how they communicate with their friends. Some people view social media as a lifeline. A community, a supportive network. This is why I think the government shouldn’t ban it.

Some people only know their friends from social media, if you banned it then they might never talk to them again (or until 16) which could take years and their friendship would ‘die out’. Adding on, some people get there news info from social media and get to know what’s going around the world. Some under 16s make money from social media so you would basically be taking the job away. I’m just saying that i Think that it would be a very bad idea to ban social media and the suicide rates can go up
