Rejected petition: Do not issue a social media curfew for 16 and 17 year olds or a ban.

Rejected on

I oppose social media curfews or bans for 16–17 year olds. We are trusted to work, pay taxes, learn to drive and make decisions about our future. Online safety should focus on protecting minors from adults who exploit or harass them, not restricting responsible teens

This petition opposes any social media curfew or ban for 16–17 year olds. At this age we are trusted to work, pay taxes, learn to drive, and make important decisions about our education and future, so restricting social media is unfair. Social media is important for communication, school, work, and social life. Online safety should focus on protecting minors from adults who exploit or harass them, and on holding companies accountable, rather than restricting responsible teenagers.
