Ensure existing and new public playgrounds provide adequate shade for children through solutions such as shade sails, canopies, tree planting, or other suitable shade structures.

We call on the Government to introduce national guidance requiring local authorities to assess shade provision in existing public playgrounds and fund a programme of improvements where needed, while ensuring all new public playgrounds include adequate shade to protect children from heat and UV exposure.
