Rejected petition: Now that the Prime Minister has resigned it is time for a General Election.

Rejected on

We call on the Government to dissolve Parliament and hold an immediate General Election. The current administration no longer has a direct democratic mandate under its present leadership, and the public should be given the opportunity to decide who governs the country through a national vote.

The Prime Minister has resigned, creating uncertainty over the country’s future leadership. The next Prime Minister may be chosen through an internal party process rather than by the electorate. Given the challenges facing the United Kingdom, we believe the public should have the opportunity to decide who forms the next Government through a General Election. A fresh election would provide a democratic mandate and help restore public confidence in national leadership.
