Rejected petition: Close Schools Nation Wide during Excessive Temperatures

Rejected on

Close schools for the entire day, and further days, in areas affected by Amber-Red Weather Warnings, or temperatures exceeding 30 Degrees Celsius.
The Government shall also fund full Air Conditioning for schools dangerously affected by strong heat in order to keep children safe.

Schools are instructed to close during Amber Weather Warnings for cold temperatures. Why are schools not closed for Red Warnings for heat?
Many working in schools believe this should change. Schools get too warm to conduct effective learning.
Every child and adult suffers during heatwaves at schools, especially in schools that don't have adequate Air Conditioning.
Vulnerable / SEND Children become dis-regulated more easily during this weather.

This is a health issue. We call for this to change!
