1.Take a proactive diplomatic role with all relevant parties to help de-escalate tensions and support a peaceful resolution to the conflict 2.Press for the immediate restoration of communication services including internet and phone-3.Support investigations into alleged human rights violations.

Since June 5, 2026, unrest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan, has escalated after the government blocked roads, suspended internet and phone services, and restricted media access ahead of a June 9 strike organised by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). At least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured. The conflict reflects long-standing grievances over resource distribution, political representation, and regional autonomy.
Local residents have for years raised concerns over rising inflation, electricity pricing and unemployment.
