Open petition: Remove public pensions from elected officials found guilty of serious offences
Created by Clare Kilgallon
Closes on
We believe taxpayers shouldn't fund the retirement of those guilty of serious offences. We demand laws to remove personal pensions linked to service in elected office for those guilty of serious offences like child abuse.
Pensions for elected politicians can exceed £30,000 to £50,000 annually, funded by the public. When an official commits serious crimes like child abuse, taxpayers may be left footing the bill for their retirement. We demand an immediate law to stop funding criminal offenders.
