Rejected petition: Hold an Immediate General Election Following the Prime Minister's Resignation.

Rejected on

We call on the Government to dissolve Parliament and hold an immediate General Election following the resignation of the Prime Minister, allowing the British public to decide who should form the next Government.

We believe that the British public should have the opportunity to decide who governs the country through a national vote. A change of Prime Minister without a General Election would result in a new leader taking office without receiving a direct mandate from the electorate for that role.
We believe that, given the significant political changes and loss of confidence that have led to the Prime Minister's resignation, the democratic way forward is to allow voters to choose.
