The UK is set to get a new Prime Minister without a public vote, following Keir Starmer's resignation. Recent elections and polling show the government has lost public support. We call on the Government to seek a fresh mandate and hold a general election so voters decide the country's direction.
Following Keir Starmer's resignation, the UK is set to get its third Prime Minister of this Parliament with no public vote, the sixth PM in seven years. The government has suffered resignations including the Defence Secretary, lost nearly 1,500 councillors and 35 councils at the 2026 local elections, and now polls near 17%, far below its 2024 result. A PM should hold a mandate from the people, not just their party. We call on the Government to seek a fresh mandate and call a general election.
