I believe that our government could apply a new law that states the limit of rent increase per year. To further increase the housing rate of the uk and so people who are renting spend less than 30 percent of their annual income on rent, which is recommended by experts.
This is meant to help people struggling with the annual increase in rent which is usually about 3.5% of the previous rent price. The average rent currently in the uk is £17,304 annually. This is about 32.5% to 41% of their income on rent which is more than what experts recommend to spend on rent at today's prices.
Why was this petition rejected?
