Rejected petition: Ensure all schools and nurseries can keep safe indoor temperatures in heatwaves

Rejected on

We call on UK Government to require schools and nurseries to maintain safe indoor temperatures during heatwaves. Many buildings overheat due to climate change, harming learning and health. Standards should require heat mitigation and cooling measures where needed to protect children across setting

Mandatory standards ensuring schools/nurseries maintain safe indoor temperatures during heatwaves are required by many. UK heatwaves are more frequent, longer and intense due to climate change. Older buildings overheat, harming learning, health, especially young children and those with medical conditions. We seek maximum temperature standards, with mitigation: ventilation, shading, insulation, heat plans, AC if needed. Every child deserves safe learning environment despite rising temperatures.
