Require all nurseries and early years settings to maintain temperatures below a safe specified temperature for children with funding for effective cooling systems where needed. As heatwaves become more common, no baby or young child or staff caring for them should be exposed to unsafe indoor heat.

Nurseries and early years settings should be required maintain temperatures below a safe specified temperature for children with funding for effective cooling systems where needed, as children and babies are more vulnerable to heat-related illness than adults. The Government should provide funding for cooling measures such as air conditioning where needed, and ensure all nurseries offer a safe, healthy environment for children to learn, play and rest.
