We call on the UK Government to introduce national heat safety standards for education and registered childcare settings, to help protect children and staff during periods of extreme heat.
Children are more vulnerable to heat-related illness than adults, and staff have a duty to keep them safe. As heatwaves become more frequent, we believe education and registered childcare settings need consistent national heat safety standards. We want the Government to introduce national standards to help protect children and staff, including guidance on hydration, shade, indoor temperatures, physical activity and other appropriate measures.
