Rejected petition: increase SSP to match minimum wage or 80% of it at the very least

Rejected on

I would like the UK Government to bring SSP inline with the national minimum wage or atleast 80% of its value, when working 40hrs a week you get £508.40 per week but if you are ill you are expected to be able to survive on £123.25 which put pressure on people to return to work before they are ready

SSP should be inline with the national minimum wage or atleast 80% of its value, when working 40hrs a week you get £508.40 per week but if you are ill you are expected to survive on £123.25 which puts pressure on people to return to work before they are ready, there is also a very real chance of getting into serious financial hardship and if you are off for stress related reasons this could lead to people taking their own lives due to the financial stress and worry
