Rejected petition: Scrap implementation of new community-sponsored "safe and legal" refugee routes.
Rejected on
We call on the Government to cancel plans to introduce new capped safe and legal humanitarian routes and community-sponsorship asylum schemes to protect public services, secure our borders from illegal arrivals, and respect the democratic mandate.
Proposed plans to expand the refugee framework via community-sponsored legal routes lack a public mandate and risk putting unsustainable pressure on overstretched local public services, housing infrastructure, and council budgets. Rather than opening new avenues for migration, resources must be focused entirely on securing UK borders, tackling illegal crossings, and restoring confidence. Parliament must reject these expansions, protect domestic infrastructure, and respect the democratic will.
