Rejected petition: Expand World Cup Licensing Extensions to Include Englands Game on Sunday Night

Rejected on

The Government extended licensing for some World Cup matches but excluded England v Mexico at 1am on 6 July. Pubs had no realistic chance to obtain a TEN, as qualification was confirmed after the deadline. Amend the extension so fans can watch England in their local pub.

The Government extended licensing hours for selected World Cup matches but excluded England v Mexico at 1:00am on Monday 6 July. Most pubs cannot legally stay open, despite claims that pubs were being supported. Temporary Event Notices are not a realistic solution, as venues have a limited number each year and England’s qualification was confirmed after the standard application deadline. Amend the extension so fans can watch England safely in their local pub.
