Open petition: Fund access to GLP-1 medications on the NHS for women with PCOS/PMOS

Created by Kirsten Varey
Closes on

Fund NHS access to GLP-1 medication for women with PCOS/PMOS, especially those with obesity and insulin resistance. We believe this could help treat debilitating symptoms, support weight loss, improve metabolic health and fertility, & reduce physical and mental health impact of the condition.

PCOS/PMOS can cause severe weight gain, insulin resistance, chronic pain, irregular periods, poor mental health and infertility, yet, in our view, treatment options on the NHS remain limited. For many women, obesity linked to PCOS worsens symptoms and long-term health risks. Some studies suggest GLP-1 medications can support weight loss, improve insulin resistance and help manage symptoms. We believe women with PCOS/PMOS should be able to access these treatments on the NHS where clinically appropriate.
