Rejected petition: Fully Fund SEND Education
Rejected on
1. Mandatory fulfilment of all Autism, ADHD and EHCP requests delivered within a 6 month time frame.
2. Support systems and services must be accessible to all.
3. Councils should be anti-austerity and anti-cuts and use their reserves and borrowing powers to fund SEND provision properly.
Government proposals are to remove the legal rights of children currently enshrined in EHCPs and the linked funding and replace with IEPs which lack any legal protection or linked funding.
Parents are already facing the persistent objection of council's to provide the vital EHCPs. Essentially paying to argue with parents instead of using that money to fund a needs-based education.
These changes stem from government cuts to local council funding which need to be restored urgently.
