Open petition: Introduce Laws to Regulate how organisations post Children/Youth on social media
Created by Keva Gibson
Closes on
We call on the Government to introduce legislation regulating how organisations publish images/videos of kids online, banning public posts of under 12s except safeguarding/public interest and introducing strict legal safeguards for 12–17-year-olds on consent, commercial use and privacy protection
Children’s images are shared online by organisations, without consistent mandatory safeguards. Once posted, these images can be copied, reshared or misused beyond the original context. This petition calls for stronger legal protections: prohibiting public posting on under 12’s by organisations (except safeguarding/public interest purposes) and introducing strict safeguards for ages 12-17, which limit commercial use, use stronger protections than consent alone and implement privacy protections.
