Providing a dialysis service at Harwich Hospital would improve access to care, reduce travel, improve quality of life, and enable patients to receive treatment closer to home. Kidney patients should not face unnecessary journeys when local care is possible.
Many dialysis patients currently have to travel to Colchester, Clacton or Ipswich several times a week for treatment. These long and frequent journeys are exhausting, time-consuming, and place additional physical, emotional and financial strain on patients and their families.
