Rejected petition: Make the UK Child Maintenance System Fairer for Working Parents
Rejected on
Reform Child Maintenance Service calculations to make them fairer for working parents, reflect both parents’ finances and support children through balanced shared responsibility.
The current Child Maintenance Service formula places many working parents under severe financial pressure while failing to fully reflect both parents’ financial circumstances or the costs of shared parenting. We support children being properly provided for, but the system should be fair, transparent and balanced. We call on the Government to review the legislation and introduce a calculation that better reflects modern family life and treats both parents more equitably.
