Rejected petition: Ban the use of AI generated advertisements in order to protect consumers.
Rejected on
AI generated advertisements are misleading and do not show real or authentic representations of a product. They allow for misleading/false advertising and should be banned.
This should fall under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Generative AI has made it very easy for accounts to sell low quality products through false advertisement.
This has especially caused concern for vulnerable individuals such as elderly or mentally vulnerable people who do not possess the means to recognize ai.
It has also made it easy for undisclosed advertisements on social media platforms to take place without the offender revealing their identity and push out large amounts of promotional content in very short time using no effort.
