Open petition: Ban unsolicited marketing or doorstep cold calling and scams

Created by Pamela Booth
Closes on

Ban all forms of unsolicited doorstep marketing and commercial cold calling to protect consumers, with a specific focus on safeguarding elderly and vulnerable individuals from what we believe can be predatory sales tactics and scams.

We call on the government to introduce legislation that makes unsolicited doorstep selling & cold calling a criminal offense. Every year, thousands mainly the elderly, isolated, and vulnerable are targeted on their own doorsteps by rogue traders, aggressive salespeople, and sophisticated scammers. Home should be a safe haven, yet we believe it has become a hunting ground for exploitative financial practices. In our view "No Cold Calling" zones and window stickers offer a minor deterrent, they lack strict legal teeth.
