Rejected petition: Do everything possible to lower household and industrial electricity costs
Rejected on
Lower household and industry electricity costs to be the cheapest in the world not the most expensive, to attract industry and jobs and help consumers. Industrial electricity is THE most expensive in the world! Household electricity cost is in the top 4 in the world! How can we compete?! Change.
Here is how global electricity prices generally break down:
Household (Domestic) Prices: The UK is typically the second or fourth most expensive, generally trailing Germany and Ireland. UK households pay roughly double what consumers in the US pay.
Industrial Prices: we pay the highest power rates of any country in the International Energy Association. Industrial electricity in the UK can be up to 50% more expensive than in France or German, and up to 4x higher than in the US and Canada.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We do not see any suggestion in your text for what you actually want the Government to do to reduce the high costs which you refer to.
