Rejected petition: Change the education system to suit differing abilities of UK children.

Rejected on

The current education system uses a 'same mould' approach to educate our children as if we are to all perform the same role in society. We do not all possess the same interests or abilities, as a result the system is failing those that do not want to conform to the government's archaic methods.

A child who is less academic but possesses manual dexterity and an interest in a particular subject like mechanics for example, is not catered for in a system that forces them to learn algebra or the works of Shakespeare. There should either be schools that cater for different types of education or a more flexible curriculum that allows better choices for children to choose their path based upon ability, rather than constantly forcing a particular subject upon a child that will not benefit them.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We do not know what specific changes you would like to make to the education system.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, such as setting up new secondary schools with more vocational focus, or adding subjects such as mechanics to the national curriculum.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
