Open Increase Statutory Sick Pay to match minimum wage

I want the Government to make Statutory Sick Pay equivalent to the minimum wage. I feel the current weekly rate is too low and it's unfair to expect people to be able to live on that amount. I'm concerned that employees who do not get company sick pay are going into debt.

Many employees don't take time off sick unless it is absolutely necessary. Some people who are genuinely sick (and cannot take company sick pay) are being forced to live on less than the minimum wage.
