Rejected petition: Help Young People by Introducing Free Bus Travel for 11–17-Year-Olds
Rejected on
I want the Government to introduce free bus travel for all 11–17-year-olds in England. This could save families hundreds of pounds a year, improve access to education and activities, and support young people’s wellbeing. As a Member of Youth Parliament, I ask the Government to support this proposal.
I ask the Government to consider introducing free bus travel for 11–17-year-olds in England. This could save families hundreds of pounds each year, improve access to education, work, sport and youth services, and support better mental health. Spending just 60 extra minutes outdoors can reduce depressive symptoms by around 10%. Greater Manchester already provides free bus travel for 16–18-year-olds through its Our Pass scheme.
