Introduce autism support levels in the UK so that, on paper, people’s different support needs are recognised instead of everyone receiving the same diagnosis.
Autism is a spectrum, but in the UK everyone receives the same diagnosis regardless of support needs. In the USA, autism support levels (1, 2 and 3) help show how much support a person needs. I believe the UK should introduce a similar system so that on paper, someone who is non-speaking, has pica, a learning disability and needs constant supervision isn’t viewed the same as someone with much lower support needs. This would help support, education and funding better reflect individual needs.
Why was this petition rejected?
