Rejected petition: Recognise God Save The King as the national anthem of England

England has no national anthem. The action I am calling for is that the government officially and legally recognises God Save The King as our national anthem. It displays pride in our nation and our history.
I believe that God Save The King should be officially recognised as the national anthem of England. It represents us as a nation and it's already recognised by football confederations like FIFA and UEFA. We should be proud of our nation, and what other way to do that then to recognise God Save The King as our official anthem.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
This isn't something that falls within the Government's responsibility: the use of the present National Anthem is a matter of tradition rather any legal or constitutional status.
